The Arcane Congress

The Arcane Congress was established by King Galifar I in 15 YK. It was tasked to study the mysteries of magic and place these powers at the service of the kingdom.

The Congress has its seat in four floating towers above the village of Arcanix and also uses the Starpeaks Observatory to study the moons and stars. The members of the Congress oversee the towers of wizardry, advise Aundair's monarch on all things magical, and confer with colleagues in the other nations-- despite a rivalry with the wizards of the dragonmarked houses and with the Royal Eyes of Aundair.

The Bronze Legion

An old mercenary tradition stretching back over two centuries, the Bronze Legion came to prominence during the Last War, when it contracted exclusively with the crown of Aundair. Afterward, many heroes from the Legion's ranks made brave stands and engendered heroic tales of their fearlessness and skill. After the treaty, the Legion has remained in the faithful employ of the crown, as a supplemental force to the royal army.

Many citizens of Aundair, familiar with the heroic tales of the Legion and war-weary enough to gladly abdicate militia duties to a capable force, love to see a Bronze Legion contingent in their city or town, even though the fighting force seems to attract an odd number of dragonborn.

The Circle of Monosis

Based upon the teachings of Jamash the Eldest, the Monosis formed about 400 years ago, when Jamash, a coastal druid meditating upon the rhythms of the sea, entered a state between dream and utter calm that would come to be known as the dream-walk. There, he entered a demiplane between Eberron and Dal Quor, where he met and learned from the Rathta Falu. Returning with this knowledge, he formed the circle, naming it after the quori word monosis-- going into.

The Monosis were instrumental in safeguarding the Welling of Worlds, a thinning of the planar boundaries at an island off the northern coast. They made a pact with the founder of the monastery there, Aelmor, that in return for its use as a haven for kalashtar wanderers, it would also be watched over for any sign of disturbances from the dreadful realm of Dal Quor.

The plans fell apart when Aelmor used the Four Lanterns entrusted to him to enter the city of Dreamwalk, but never returned. Soon after, the Monosis were decimated and driven out of their coastal lands by the war. The Four Lanterns of Monosis were lost, and the Welling of Worlds fell victim to the madness of Anthomodus, who would eventually transform it into the realm rift and destroy Aelmor Monastery.

Rahthta Falu

In the quori language, it means, "they stumbled and fell behind." According to Tarnillo, the Rahthta Falu, or just Falu, are a group of twelve quori spirits who, ages ago, sought to escape Dal Quor with their brethren when the monks who would become the kalashtar race offered them sanctuary as hybrid beings. Every quori who attempted the journey succeeded, except for the falu, who were never heard from again, neither has the reason ever been found for their failure to escape the domain of the evil Dreaming Dark.

According to Tarnillo, however, the Falu remained behind intentionally, sensing that the quori refugees had been pursued by an agent of the Dreaming Dark known as Narkul the Collector. Tarnillo's belief was that the Falu closed off the way into Eberron before Narkul could find out about it, cursing themselves to remain, but using the knowledge to create for themselves a demiplane shunted between Dal Quor and Eberron, the City of Dreamwalk, physically located in the Welling of Worlds at Aelmor Island.

What the Falu intended or still intend to do with this demiplane is yet unknown, but the Monosis believe that they watch over them, that they gave them the Four Lamps of Monosis, and that they taught the first Monosis druids how to dream-walk and enter their planar city. From what we have seen, however, that city is not a pleasant place.

The known Falu are:

  • The Magician - responsible for severing Narkul's hand by tricking him into reaching into Eberron through a malformed portal
  • The Damsel
  • The Scholar - I have personally met him in Blackworth Manor, he being able to manifest in the waking world for a longer time than the others
  • The Wanderer
  • The Childe - the youngest and, according to Tarnillo, perhaps not even an actual quori, but a powerful ally to them
  • The Golem
  • The Knights - six quori of lesser power

  • In Duskthorn Forest, there are six Monosis Stones, each carved to represent one of these individual types. The Monosis druids believe the stones enhance their ability to communicate with the Falu.

    The Royal Eyes of Aundair

The Royal Eyes of Aundair is the primary intelligence service for the nation of Aundair and is one of the oldest intelligence agencies on Khorvaire. The agency was founded by the first ruler of Aundair, Lady Aundair, and continues to serve the Aundairian crown in gathering intelligence and other covert actions to protect the nation.

It is believed that both Heleste Tomund and Guthber Tomund once worked for the Royal Eyes, but retired after Heleste's encounter with the Monosis, which left him maimed.

    The Korranberg Chronicle

The most widely read source of written news in all of Khorvaire, and perhaps all of Eberron. The newspaper originated in Zilargo, and like many gnomish ventures, has worked hard to maintain a reputation for "neutrality" and "objectivity". Because of this, and because of a distribution deal with House Orien, the Chronicle is widely distributed to all the Five Nations and beyond three times per week.

    Stock & Trade

Run by the unsinkable Gregor Stock, this local trading company specialized in bringing supplies to the small coastal villages along the North Coast, and running the local vintage of ale, Hagshot, from Sestone to parts beyond. They had recently been suffering from hobgoblin pirate attacks, but the heroes helped put an end to that. Sadly, both Gregor and his trading company seem to have been destroyed in the burning of Sestone.
